Intensive farming is even more 'efficient' today......
One does not need to be a health professional to accept the logic of 'you are what you eat'. Yet for most of us processed, refined foods, additives, hormones and chemicals are commonplace in our diets. We smoke, drink, imbibe drugs such as caffeine, thus overworking our hormonal and compromising our immune systems. Our blood sugar levels 'yo-yo' with high glycemic foods, promoting the need to satiate our appetites by eating more and more high glycemic foods (this alone is a diabetes time-bomb). Again, it doesn't take a genius - obesity is rife - to appreciate the grounds for this assessment.
Because of stress, lack of self-esteem and self-restraint, 'comfort food' is a regular companion. We vainly attempt to fill the voids in our modern lives by acquiring food and drink as material consumables, rather than thinking of them as vital building blocks for strong, durable and disease-free bodies.
MESSING WITH NATURE
The body is a remarkable machine, able to repair and regenerate itself and combat disease, including cancer, if nourished with the tools to do so. These tools occured naturally in an era when foods were truly organic and unadulterated. Nowadays, even those of us who eat totally organic and unprocessed diets cannot possibly hope to glean what the body needs in the amounts required for optimum health.
100 years of intensive farming, use of cheap fertilisers and pesticides has led to even our most naturally grown produce being affected by a serious depletion in vitamins, minerals and other trace elements that are required for optimum health.
Whilst some of these can be manufactured by the plants or the body, many cannot, and plants can only take from the soil what is actually in the soil.
UNHEALTHY PROFESSIONALS?
How often are we told by health professionals WHY we are sick? They are trained to treat symptoms with drugs. They are sponsored and paid by pharmaceutical companies to do so. A GP with more than just a basic knowledge of nutrition is rare. They are rarely taught it whilst training. Medical curriculums are largely formulated by drugs companies. And yet over 100,000 patients die annually (US figures) from complications caused by drugs and 'traditional' therapies.
Someone heavily overweight, with an unhealthy diet and eating habits, after two strokes, was given the following nutritional advice by his GP - "don't drink grapefruit juice". Apparently this particular beverage could interfere with his drug treatment - no other dietary advice or lifestyle changes were suggested!
Moreover, although drugs companies know the cause of major diseases, they actively strive to prevent this knowledge* from being promoted because the way to secure the avoidance major diseases is not only relatively easy, but also CHEAP. They NEED you to be sick. That's how they make money. Annual health expenditure in the US alone is over $1 trillion!
*In the 70s, major university research (funded by pharmaceutical companies) proved that high cholesterol itself is NOT necessarily the cause of heart disease. The researcher's funding was withdrawn and he lost his tenureship.
It is believed that the cause of a majority of degenerative diseases - from arthritis to cancer - is a natural process in the body called Oxidative Stress.
